Tyler Warren Is A Darkhorse For Fantasy Football TE1
Ian Hartitz projects how Tyler Warren of the Indianapolis Colts could become a darkhorse candidate to vault into elite TE territory for fantasy football.
The talent was evident before he'd stepped on an NFL field, as Tyler Warren announced himself as one of the best TE prospects we've seen in a long time. Maybe ever. A great start to his rookie season made people take notice, but the shine dimmed some with a season-ending injury to Daniel Jones that torpedoed the Indianapolis Colts offense and made so many targets disappear for Warren. Now he's back, and a thinned target tree could mean more production for the Penn State product. How much more? Ian Hartitz breaks it down as part of his Indianapolis Colts Team Preview.
Could Tyler Warren push for 150 targets in Year 2?
- TE1: Tyler Warren (TE4 in Fantasy Life ranks)
- TE2: Mo Alie-Cox
- TE3: Drew Ogletree
- TE4: Will Mallory
In case you missed it: Tyler Warren was really good as a rookie.

And the returns would have been even better if Warren wasn't forced to, you know, spend his December catching passes from a literal Grandpa. Even still: Warren stands as one of just six tight ends to post top-12 PPR per-game numbers as a rookie over the last decade!
So why the optimism that even bigger and better things are on the way? Mostly due to the departure of Michael Pittman, who regularly ate in the same underneath and intermediate areas of the field as Mr. Warren last season.
Most agree Warren is deserving of TE4 treatment in fantasy drafts—but does he deserve to be going nearly two rounds later than TE3 Colston Loveland? How about nearly 40 picks after Trey McBride? 45 picks after Brock Bowers? Well, these are four of the position's only five players (shoutout Harold Fannin) presently projected for triple-digit targets next season—don't count out the possibility that Warren manages to make the most out of these opportunities and post a top-3 finish.
